Privacy: no cookies, no trackers — here is exactly what we count

keepasspc.com sets no cookies, uses no local storage, runs no third-party scripts and loads nothing from any other domain. This page exists so you don't have to take that on faith: it describes precisely what our server does and does not record when you visit.

What we do not collect

No cookies and no local storage — nothing is stored in your browser, which is why this site shows no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
No IP addresses — we do not store, hash or look up the IP you connect from.
No fingerprinting — no canvas, font, or device probing; the pages contain no JavaScript at all.
No third parties — no analytics services, no ad networks, no CDN-hosted fonts or scripts. Every request your browser makes stays on this domain.

What our server counts (aggregate only)

To understand which guides help people, our own server keeps anonymous tallies: how many times each page was viewed per day, how many times each download button was clicked, which website referred visitors (hostname only, e.g. "www.google.com"), a browser and operating-system family (e.g. "Firefox", "Windows" — never your full browser string), and — only if a CDN in front of us provides it — a country code. These are plain counters: there is no per-visitor record, no session, no profile, and nothing that could identify you or be handed to anyone else. The data lives on our server and nowhere else.

Automated crawlers and other non-browser clients are excluded from all of the above; for those we record the crawler's self-reported user-agent string and a hit count, which is standard practice for understanding bot traffic and identifies software, not people.

To count how many distinct people visit per day without identifying anyone, we compute a salted one-way hash from the connection and browser details, keep only "seen today or not", and discard the raw values immediately — the address itself is never stored, the hash cannot be reversed, it changes every day so visits on different days cannot be linked, and even the hashes themselves are deleted once the day ends. Only the per-day number survives.

Download buttons on this site redirect you to the official KeePass distribution on sourceforge.net. From that moment your request is handled by SourceForge under its own privacy policy, as with any external link. We only count that the button was clicked — we cannot see what happens after you leave.
